INTRODUCTION

Horseback Riding in Chile

The geography of Chile offers a great variety of landscapes and climates: from the mysterious, fertile Elqui Valley in the north to the startling, icy beauty of the Torres del Paine National Park in the Magellan region.

Man and Horse

You can take short rides to beaches, mountains or hot springs, or longer overnight trips staying in either campsites or hotels in areas of great natural beauty.

For shorter rides, you generally pay per hour or per day, while longer trips may include food, accommodations, a guide, insurance as well as entry to national parks or areas of interest. Establish the price and conditions of your ride before you set out.

If you have your own horse, it is best to hire a guide who can take you on the most suitable trail through the area. If you do go out on your own, make sure you inform people of your intended route and estimated length of time.

BASIC ASPECTS

Horse-riding is not without its risks, whether you are experienced or inexperienced with horses, and the environment can be unpredictable or unfamiliar. Verify the experience and qualifications of the stable management and guides where you hire the horses and make sure the tours include personal insurance.
