It is the biggest salt deposit in Chile with a rough, white surface that hides, to the naked eye, a large salt lake. Its surface area measures 750,000 acres (300,000 ha), which can be appreciated
in its entirety thanks to the air clarity, a result of the region's extremely dry climate. However, this great visibility distorts one's perception of distance.

Santiago-Antofagasta: by airplane, public or private transportation. Antofagasta-Calama: by public or private transportation on Route 5 North, then take Route 25 until Calama. From
Calama to San Pedro de Atacama take Route 23. From San Pedro drive towards Toconao, after a while you'll be at the salt deposit.
