What type of clothing should I use during the Cruise?
These Cruises allow you to discover remote areas in Chile, which require roomy and comfortable clothing, specifically made to withstand cold weather and low temperatures. In some cases, there are parties or formal dinners that take place, for which the passenger should also consider bringing a semiformal/cocktail outfit.

Is it necessary to bring passports and visas?
The Visa/passport requirements vary according to the passenger's country of origin, which you should verify when you make the reservation. Therefore, each passenger is responsible for the necessary documents to enter the countries you will visit. Minors traveling unaccompanied by both parents must present notarized authorization from the absent parent.

In general, the cruise ships have cabins that are equipped with 220 volt plugs. Consult the type of electricity at the time of cruise reservation confirmation.

What type of clothing should I wear on the cruise? (for Skorpios)
The kind of clothing required is completely informal, casual and suitable for traveling. Remember to bring warm clothes as well as light clothing, the proper footwear, a suit and tie or cocktail dress for the good-bye party and a swimsuit for the *hot springs (*only Aysen Adventure Route and Classic San Rafael).
 
Is there television on board the Skorpios Cruise liners?
The Skorpios ships count on satellite T.V. during some parts of the cruise, but there is also a closed circuit showing movies in both languages. Also, as a way to treasure the memories, all the activities in which our passengers participate are recorded on professional digital cameras, edited, and made into a video to later offer passengers in either VHS or DVD format.
 
Can you make phone calls from the ship?
Skorpios counts on satellite telephone service, which allows you to call anywhere in the world, in accordance with the existing rates on each ship.
 
What kind of cuisine is offered aboard the cruise liner?
The type of cuisine that Skorpios offers is a fixed menu, in harmony with Patagonian recipes, based on meat, fish, and other fruits of the ocean, however, if a passenger desires something different, there is no extra charge to change the menu. Plus, the captain offers a Luxury Buffet during the Good-bye Party.
 
Is there some type of travel insurance on board the Cruise liner?
Accident insurance, medical assistance, pharmaceuticals, hospital, and emergency transportation, up to US $4,500.-Insurance for death or permanent disablement from accident, up to US $22,000.- this is included in the value of your ticket, at no cost, and is applied after your individual or personal health insurance.
 
Bar?
The bar is always open, at no additional cost for wine, drinks, and national or imported liquor.
 
Language?
The Language system aboard our ships is Bilingual (Spanish-English). There are public relations/Interpreters on board all three ships. The Skorpios II and III also provide simultaneous Spanish/English translation through infrared headphones during onboard talks.
 
Is there a doctor on board?
There is always a doctor on board all three ships. This service is free, however, basic medical supplies and specific medications are each passenger´s responsibility.
 
What type of ship is it?
The M/N Puerto Edén is a cargo ferry adapted for transporting passengers, with accommodations in cabins. Cargo transported can include trucks with general cargo and livestock, automobiles, and pretty much any type of vehicle.

Are meals included?
Yes, breakfast, lunch and dinner (fixed menu) are prepared on board, with a "taking turns" system for passengers.
 
What are the accommodations like?
There are cabins with private bathroom and shared exterior bathrooms.
 
What kind of entertainment is there on board?
There is an adviser in charge of organizing a variety of recreational activities, among others, competitions and helping passengers form relationships, electing a queen, costume parties. There is also a dance area and movies showing at set times.
 
What kind of clothing should I wear on board?
Informal, athletic wear. Park, hat, and gloves.
 
Can you ask for food or drinks that are separate from the menu?
The cafeteria offers a wide array of choices, from sandwiches and fast food to beverages, wine, beer, and mixed drinks. Prices are just like any restaurant or cafeteria in the city.
 
What are the check-in schedules for passengers and vehicles?
Passengers should check-in at least 4 hours before departure. Boarding begins at 9:00 am and we suggest that you arrive as early as possible so that you have time to tour Angelmó, the craft fair, or the city of Puerto Montt. In regards to vehicles, they must be checked-in at the boarding terminal at least 5 hours before the schedule set for the boarding of passengers.
 
If I am running late can I board the ship, even after embarkation has taken place?
Once all passengers have boarded the ship, the trip is considered closed and no stragglers will be permitted on board.
 
Are vehicles accessible during the cruise?
For security reasons, access to vehicles during the cruise is NOT permitted.
 
How much luggage is permitted?
Two pieces of luggage (bag, backpack, or suitcase) per person. We recommend trying to pack as much as possible in one suitcase, since space on the ship is limited due to its characteristics. At the time of check in at the passenger terminal, baggage will be put on board and later distributed to passengers in an established area. In the case of passengers with cabins, baggage will be taken to your respective accommodations.

What kind of clothing should I wear?
We want your stay aboard the cruise liner to be a comfortable one. We recommend loose, casual clothing for men and women. Summer nights and sometimes days in the Magellan region are cold. We suggest sweaters, parka/coat, pants, hat, gloves, and hiking shoes or boots for excursions. We also recommend taking 2 pairs of shoes.
 
What does the cruise rate include?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. Open bar. Land excursions. Welcome and good-bye cocktail. Whisky and hot chocolate during excursions to the glaciers. All activities within the ship.
 
>When and where does boarding take place?
PUNTA ARENAS: Check-In begins every Saturday from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at Calle Magallanes 990, Punta Arenas. Boarding takes place between 6:00 pm and 7:00 PM The ship departs at 9:00pm from Punta Arenas.
USHUAIA:Check-in between 9:00am-4:00pm at San Martín 245, Ushuaia. From 5:00pm - 6:00pm passengers can board the Mare Australis.
 
Is there a shop on board?
Yes, you will find exclusive Mare Australis designs for casual clothing, as well as souvenirs, gifts, and personal items.
 
Should you tip while on board?

What is the weather like?
During Cruise months, the temperature fluctuates between 5° and 15°C (41° and 59°F). Moreover, precipitation on the islands of the archipelago (west) reach 4,000mm (157 in.) per year, while in the eastern region of the Magellan Strait precipitation barely surpasses 254mm (10 in.) yearly.
 
Can you bring pets?
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on board.
 
Are there safety deposit boxes?
Australis Cruise lines is not responsible for the loss of money, travelers checks, jewelry, or other valuable items belonging to passengers. For your convenience, there are safety deposit boxes located in each cabin.
 
Is it necessary to bring passports and visas?
The Visa/passport requirements vary according to the passenger's country of origin, which you should verify when you make the reservation. Therefore, each passenger is responsible for the necessary documents to enter both Argentine and Chilean territory. Minors traveling unaccompanied by both parents must present notarized authorization from the absent parent.
 
Is there any insurance?
The responsibility of Australis Cruise lines for loss or damage is limited by the ticket contract. We recommend all passengers to double check their personal insurance plans. Ticket contract: The acceptance of your ticket implies an agreement to the terms and conditions of Australis Cruise lines for passenger transportation.
 
What is the electricity?
Cabins are equipped with 220 volt plugs. Bathrooms have 220 and 110 volts.
 
Language?
The official languages on board are Spanish and English, however, there are also guides that speak French, German, and Italian.
 
How do you make payments on board?
Personal items such as souvenirs, videos, clothing, and others can be purchased using credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners), travelers checks, American dollars, Euros, and Chilean pesos.

If you should require medical attention, we provide this service, although we hope you won't need it.
