Situated in the austral zone at 1,600 meters above sea level, with
an area of 550 hectares, this center is something special as you
can ski between forests of various types of trees including pine
and Antarctic beech, and with a magnificent view of the Frio and Polux Lakes.
Only 29 kilometers to the south west of Coyhaique, it has two ski-lifts
and 5 runs with "powder snow" ranging between 600 and
2,200 meters in length. The center also contains a first-aid service,
cafeteria, equipment rental and an equipment repair service.
Cerro El Fraile operates from Thursday to Sunday and on the winter
holidays between Tuesday and Sunday. The shuttle "up" schedule is until 1:00pm and "down" starts at 2:00pm.

For those who are commencing as a beginner in skiing there is Escuela
slopes (initiation), that has a slope of 8 degrees and a longitude
of 300 meters. The Los Huemules, slopes for novices, has a slope
of 14 degrees and 600 meters in longitude. Los Aguiluchos is for
medium level skiers and has a slope of 23 degrees and a length of
1,800 meters. For the superior level skiers, Los Pumas slope
is 28 degrees and has a longitude of 1,800 meters long. Finally,
for experts the ski field Los Condores is 35 degree slope and
2,200
meters in length.
They possess 2 ski lifts that function from 9:00 hrs until 17:00
hrs.
