| Gentileza Corralco Mountain Ski Center |
Located 31 miles east of Temuco, on the southeast side of the
Lonquimay Volcano, this mountain center is surrounded by an extraordinary
environment of araucaria (monkey puzzle tree) forests at an altitude
of 4,592 ft above sea level. The surface is void of rocks and cracks
and due to its southeast exposure the quality of snow in the winter
is optimal for skiing. This area is favorable for the beauty of
the wilderness that encircles the ski center. The road to Lonquimay
is lined with marvelous araucaria forests and cliffs that culminate
on the Lonquimay Volcano. The Malalcahuello National Reserve is
found in Corralco. It is one of the most beautiful protected areas
in the country as well as one of the oldest. Another place to visit
is the Conguillío National Park, shadowed by the impressive
Llaima Volcano that also hovers above the mountain village called
Malalcahuello (Horse Corral in the Mapudungún language).
This entire area allows Corralco Mountain Center to be a year round
tourist attraction offering services and receiving guests winter,
spring, summer, and fall!
