| Situated in the Metropolitan region and only 39 km. from Santiago. The maximum altitude is 3,333 with a fall of 903 Meters., which gives a ski area of 1,000 hectares. Receiving many short snowfalls with an average of 5 meters of precipitation in a normal year, El Colorado also has a snowmaking system to guarantee snow throughout the season. This center, together with La Parva and Valle Nevado, forms the biggest and best ski area in South America.
Farellones and El Colorado are close to the center and offer a variety of accommodations, in particular, the Apart Hotel Colorado and the Hotel Posada de Farellones, the last one being one of the first to be built in this resort, in the 1940's. There are also restaurants, cafeterias, clubs, transportation, a ski school, equipment rental, etc.

How to get there
Leave Santiago towards the West (Avda. Kennedy and Avda. Las Condes ), take the road to Farellones. It is paved and is 25km to Farellones. It is 5km more to El Colorado .Traffic is controlled by police and it is obligatory to carry snow chains. Between 08:00 h and 14:00 traffic can only go up and between 14:00 and 20:00 only down. The highest skiable point in Colorado is 3,333 meters above sea level and the minimum is 2,430 meters above sea level, with a drop of 903 m. The center has 22 ski runs (13,3 km.), which trace down the slopes of the Colorado hill. The easiest runs take up 51% of the skiable area, the intermediates 28%, those graded difficult 8% and finally the slopes graded solely for experts take up 13% of the area. The grade of difficulty of the slopes from the easiest to the most difficult are marked with the colors green, blue, red and black. The center has 19 lifts of both pulling and seated types and they operate from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening.
