A destination with advantageous opportunities for shopping and recreation, due to the existence of a duty free zone. Diverse carnivals and festivals take place during the year. More than 160 kilometers of coast, with alternating beaches and coves, allow the practice of varied recreational and sport activities, such as deep sea fishing of flounders, sea bass, and palometa fish.
Towards the interior, in the pampas, ghost towns reminds us the periods of bonanza of the niter mining. The presence of geoglyphs, petroglyphs and cave paintings constitute important vestiges of the Tiwanaku culture. In the mountain range and Andean plateau, aymaras and atacameños communities persist, with attachment to ancestral customs, dedicated to the growing of quínoa crops and lamas herding.
