Getting to know the Atacama Desert is not only to marvel in the beauty of the landscape, but also to discover its archaeological attractions that are present in the zone. The natural arid desert creates optimal conditions for conservation. Not only for millenary artifacts but also for intact ruins discovered through a long period of time in the oasis of San Pedro. We invite you to become somewhat of an archaeologist and anthropologist. Come and discover those that inhabited the zone much earlier than you would have imagined.

San Pedro de Atacama
Considered the Archeological Capital of Chile and declared a Historical Site. This was a main center of the Atacamian culture or Likanantai, with a defensive fort in Quitor and a population distributed in "ayllos", apportioning the farmable land and the channeled water of the Grande River. This area was later conquered by the Incas, who installed an administrative and governmental center. This was visited by Diego de Almagro in the Age of Discovery and Pedro de Valdivia, during the years of Conquest. The town is small with lanes and adobe constructions. The main attractions here are the Church, the Archeological Museum of Father Le Paige, a Jesuit missionary who lived in the area from 1955 to 1980, the year of his death. Inside, most notable, are the different ceramic stages of evolution, gold figures, and mommies. (More information)
Valle de la Luna
Fantastic lunar landscape that forms part of the Salt Mountains and belongs to the National Flamenco Reserve. This is a small depression of 500 m in diameter with a saline floor and gives intriguing sculptures forms resulting from the successive transformations of the earth's crust, which occurs by the creasing of the bottom of what was once a salt water lake. There is no life in this place, making this place one of the most inhospitable on the planet. (More information)
Tatio Geysers
Framed by a landscape of imposing and arid beauty, Tatio Geysers is a geothermic area of volcanic origin, where the water and the vapor burst violently from the depths of the earth. They are located more than 4 thousand meters above sea level where the early morning temperatures are very low, which makes the boiling water spurt up.
The geysers are at their greatest heights between the hours of 5:30 and 7:00 in the morning, when the height of the spouts easily reach 10 meters.
There are natural thermal pools near the geysers where you can enjoy a dip. (More information)
